Most of the world currently depends heavily on oil, coal and natural gas for its energy. These are Fossil fuels and are non-renewable. This means that they call on resources that will eventually dwindle, and will therefore become too expensive or too environmentally damaging to retrieve. In contrast, renewable energy resources such as wind and solar energy are constantly replenished and will never run out.

Biofuel is also a renewable energy source. This is because biofuel can be manufactured from renewable products such as crops. Crops such as sunflowers can be used relatively easily to create biofuel.
It is clear that the worlds natural resources of oil, coal and gas will eventually become too expensive to recover and we are now having to take a serious look at other renewable energy sources, particularly for running our motor vehicles.

Research into renewable energy sources to power our vehicles is progressing at a staggering rate, with manufacturers and consumers now ready to accept the inevitable.

Almost all of the diesel vehicles now manufactured are capable of using biodiesel as an alternative to petroleum diesel. Biodiesel has a number of advantages over petroleum diesel, the main ones being that it is a renewable energy source, it is easy to produce (you can even make it at home from used vegetable oil), and that it can actually be good for your vehicle due to it’s lubricant properties.

Biofuel is now manufactured on a large scale by the leading oil companies but it can also be made at home either with commercially bought equipment or “home brew” equipment.
